Performant Core Data Workshop

Date & Location

The workshop will take place on March 31st, 2017 at our office in Berlin.

What You Will Learn

In this workshop we put a special emphasis on teaching best practice patterns to avoid the most common Core Data pitfalls. This will give you a headstart when it comes to writing performant Core Data code and using Core Data concurrently. Topics include:

  • Core Data’s architecture and how it relates to performance.
  • Efficient data models.
  • How to diagnose and fix performance problems.
  • Using Core Data concurrently.

You’ll get playgrounds/projects covering all the workshop materials. In addition, you’ll get a copy of our book Core Data.

Prerequisites

We expect that you’re comfortable writing iOS apps with Swift using UIKit and Xcode, and that you have a basic understanding of Core Data.

Format

This is an intensive one day workshop where you’ll spend a lot of time programming. We introduce each topic with a short presentation, followed by lots of hands-on exercises. After the exercises, we’ll discuss the solutions together. We’ll be working in a small group: two instructors and a maximum of twelve people.

The workshop is led by Chris Eidhof and Florian Kugler, founders of objc.io, authors of the books Advanced Swift, Functional Swift and Core Data, and hosts of Swift Talk.
